BELIEVERS

BELIEVERS
Jesus was teaching about those who build houses on rock and sand; when
he said,

JESUS Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom
of heaven,, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. When a
discussion started about believers started:

MATTHEW Jesus, you are more
concerned about our walk than our talk. You want us to do right, not just say
the right words. Our lives will withstand the storms of life only if we do what
is right instead of just talking about it. What we do proves what we believe. I
remember when you told us the parable of the weeds and said,

JESUS Let both grow
together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First
collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat
and bring it into my barn.

MATTHEW Unbelievers and believers must live side by
side in this world. God‘s harvest (judgment) of all people is coming. We are to
make ourselves ready by making sure that our faith is sincere.

JESUS In that day
you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give
you what ever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in
my dame. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer
use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. In that day
you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your
behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have
believed that I came from God.

JOHN Jesus, you are talking about a new
relationship between the believer and God. Any believer can approach God
directly. A new day has dawned and now all believers are priests, talking with
God personally and directly. We approach God, not because of our own merit, but
because Jesus, our great high priest, has made us acceptable to God.

JESUS I
have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the
world any more than I am of the world.

JOHN The world hates Christians because
Christians’ values differ from the world’s. Because your followers don’t
cooperate with the world by joining in their sin, they are living accusations
against the world’s immorality. The world follows Satan’s agenda, and Satan is
the avowed enemy of Jesus and his people.

JESUS I pray for those who will
believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just
as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may
believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me,
that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought
to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them
even as you have loved me.

JOHN Jesus, your great desire for your disciples is
that they would become one. You want us unified as a powerful witness to the
reality of God’s love. Are we helping to unify the body of Christ, the church?
We can pray for other Christians, avoid gossip, build others up, work together
in humility, give our time and money, exalt you, and refuse to get sidetracked
arguing over divisive matters.

Christians can know unity among themselves if they are living in union with God.

Are we a secret believer? Do we hide our faith from our friends and fellow
workers? This is an appropriate time to step out of hiding and let others know
whom we follow. When you face an impossibility, leave it in the hands of the
specialist. Refuse to calculate. Refuse to doubt. Refuse to work it out by
yourself. Refuse to worry or encourage others to worry. Instead, say, “Lord, I’m
carrying around something I cannot handle. Because You are not only able but
also willing and anxious, take this off my hands. It’s impossible to me, but it
is as nothing with You.” Persevering through the pressures of impossibilities
calls for that kind of confidence. Now our problem is that we hold onto our
problems. If your Swiss watch stops working, you don’t sit down at home with a
screwdriver and start working on it yourself. You take it to a specialist. What
if you do work on that watch and then you take it to a specialist? “Sir, my
watch stopped working.” “Oh really. Let me take a look at it…. What in the
world have you done to this lovely watch?” The problem is that the Lord gets all
the leftovers. We make all the mistakes and get things tied into nineteen granny
knots, then dump it in His lap and say, “Here, Lord.” No! Right at first, say,
“It’s impossible: I can’t handle it. Lord, before I foul it up, it’s yours.” He
is able to handle it. (From Three Steps Forward and Two Steps Back by Charles
Swindoll) Do you face an impossible challenge? Remember the battle belongs to
the Lord!
